AMS NEVE  8816 Summing Mixer

The sound of Neve has been the audio recording benchmark for generations of leading engineers, musicians and producers. Wherever sound matters – from a full orchestral recording for a blockbuster film to a lone singer, from a rock drummer to an R’n’B vocal – Neve provides the warmth, punch and definition so sought after by virtually anyone who has touched a fader. With the new 8816 Summing Mixer, the legendary sound of Neve now becomes available to computer-based producers.

Hand-built and hand-wired at the Neve factory in Burnley, England, the 8816 allows engineers and producers to mix their music on a true, albeit diminutive, Neve summing mixer. The unit provides 16 input channels with +15dB gain, level, pan, cut/solo and cue controls. Additionally, a post-insert mix function can be used for mixing in a separate stem, or blending the mix with a special effect.

With four monitor sources, two sets of speakers, independent monitor level control, talkback mic, cue send and headphone outs, the 8816 effectively upgrades a digital audio workstation to a professional mixing facility. And an onboard USB connector allows snapshots of the 8816 to be saved to a PC or Mac and recalled ready for remix.

GREAT RIVER  MixMaster 20

The MixMaster 20 is a comprehensive analog centerpiece for your DAW based recording system. Tracking, editing, and mixing are all facilitated with this unit.

The MixMaster 20 includes four transformer coupled high gain low noise microphone preamplifiers that work with any type of microphone, ribbon, dynamic or condenser. Polarity and phantom power switching is provided on the front panel.

 Line and instrument duties are handled by transformer coupled input bridging amplifiers with wide gain ranges, suitable for anything from keyboards to tape machines.

 Each of the four input channels has a balanced insert point as well as four auxiliary output mix sends. Each channel may also be fed to the main stereo mix bus.

 Mixing duties are handled by the four input channels plus the 16 transformerless line input channels. Each of these channels has fully controllable level and pan settings to the stereo mix bus. Mix settings can be stored and recalled via the USB port and a GUI compatible with most digital recording programs is in development to make the MixMaster 20 an automated analog mixer.

 The mixing is done passively, with the summing gain provided by transformer coupled mixing amplifiers. The balanced output of this stage is available as a patch point for the insertion of compressors, equalizers or other signal processing equipment. The return is also transformer balanced and feeds the Penny & Giles stereo fader and output line amplifier, also transformer coupled.

 Control room monitoring functions are also provided. These include a versatile solo system, multiple speaker system selector and level control, mix replay monitoring and talkback. Talkback feeds the cut outputs and dims the main monitoring system to aid communications and minimize feedback.

SHADOW HILLS  Equinox

The Shadow Hills Equinox is a complete recording console. First, the control room section features a twenty-four-position discrete monitor volume control and a three-position speaker selector. The four position input selector chooses from: DAW 1+2, Channels 3 - 32 summed, 2-track or external input, and Mic Pre.

The summing buss is a 30-channel mixer utilizing copper buss bars and esoteric resistors, for simply the finest sounding passive monitor section ever made. Combined through our switchable custom output transformers, Nickel, Iron, and Steel. Effectively giving you the sound of three different consoles. The Mic Pres are the same as our stellar Gama.

There is a built in talkback microphone, a dim and a mono stereo switch, and VU-meters. The Equinox may just be the most solid two rack spaces ever built. With it you can record, mix, and monitor to the tolerance of a bygone era.

In conjunction with an SSL X-Desk, X-Panda introduces 24 additional channels, which via the ‘X-Desk Link’ connection, feed directly into the X-Desk Master Buss, Cue and Aux Send/Return system. In conjunction with an X-Rack summing system, X-Panda adds faders and additional inputs to create a versatile mixer. X-Panda can also be used with any other mixer to expand available channel count.
