MP-500NV
The MP-500NV is a
professional quality microphone preamplifier designed to re-create
the vintage sound characteristics of the early 1970s large consoles.
Modern components give the MP-500NV more clarity, punch and
performance under normal use. In addition, features like metering
before and after the major gain stages let the user drive it 'hard'
to greatly expand the range of sonic options. All microphones will
benefit from the power of the MP-500NV preamplifier, including
dynamic, condenser and especially ribbon types. The MP-500NV uses
the same audio and metering circuit board found in the NV series
preamplifiers. This unit is designed to fit into a '500' series rack
using 2 available slots. It receives its power supply from the host
rack. The unit is equipped with a HI-Z instrument jack that has its
own input amplifier and was designed for 'DI' applications. All
specifications and performance details are identical to the NV
series preamplifiers with the exception of size, weight, patch jack,

The Joemeek threeQ is
the perfect link between your music and your computer. It will bring
out the best qualities or your music by giving it the "gloss" of a

Built into a compact ½ rack chassis, we used the same Burr-Brown IC's

Fox
Slate Pro Audio, manufacturer of the DRAGON
dynamic processor, has added a second analog hardware piece to
their roster. Taking precedence from the DRAGON, the FOX offers
more options to the modern day audio engineer than typically
found in a common mic pre.
Each channel of
the FOX has two unique mic pre circuits. The first, called
vintage, pays homage to the classic British 73 style preamp.
Its rich and fat tone sounds great on numerous sources. The
second preamp is called modern, and its signal path is extremely
clean and accurate. The modern pre is perfect for the demanding
engineer who wants the most detailed reproduction of the source
material. The Slate Pro Audio team then added a very unique
feature called “combo”. Combo takes the input from one pre and
combines it with the output from the other pre. This makes it

The DP-1 preamp is a
hybrid between vintage and modern circuits. Germanium stage, silicon
transistors and integrated circuits, all in the same box. DP-1’s
various sound-characters extends over several decades, the germanium
sound from the mid 60’s, British class-A from the early 70’s and a
more modern tone from the 80’s and 90’s.

The Strip
The Strip (ST1) is a complete and easy to use channel strip with a mic preamp, compressor and EQ - a perfect tool for the recording engineer, songwriter or producer on the go that needs a great sounding recording channel.
The preamp is a transformerless design with up to 75 dB of ultra-clean amplification; enough to power low output ribbon and dynamic microphones. The high-impedance instrument input on the front is perfect for instruments like synthesizers; acoustic, electric and bass guitar.
The switchable high-pass filter removes unwanted low-frequency energy below 80 Hz.
The VCA type of compressor uses RMS detection without timing controls which makes it easy to use for a lot of different instruments like vocals, bass, acoustic guitar and more. The depth and character of the compression is set with the Threshold and Ratio parameters. Parallel compression can be done by adjusting the blend of dry and compressed signal. There is a 10 LED meter showing the gain-reduction with a dot or the preamp headroom with a bar.
The EQ is a classic Baxandall design with two smooth-sounding shelving filters; the 100 Hz low-shelf filter is ideal for removing excessive bass energy or adding weight to the low-end; and the 12 kHz high-shelving filter perfect for adding some air. Both filters outperform their digital equivalents (plug-ins) by sounding smoother and more analogue.
Finally ST1 has two different output stages, an electronically balanced output stage or a discrete transformer-balanced class-A stage, built around a heavy Carnhill output transformer. The vintage class-A mode produces a fat and punchy sound with mid range character and a warm top-end. The IC-based output stage is less colored and ideal for clean amplification.
